Why Maintenance Matters
Solar pumps require minimal maintenance compared to diesel or grid pumps, but periodic attention ensures optimal performance and extended service life. A simple annual maintenance routine prevents common problems and maximizes return on investment.
Neglected maintenance leads to reduced water output, component failure, and premature system replacement. Regular inspection identifies issues before they become expensive problems.
Annual Maintenance Checklist
Solar panels: Clean dust, leaves, and bird droppings quarterly. Inspect for cracks, delamination, or hot spots. Check mounting structure integrity and bolt tightness. Verify panel tilt angle has not shifted.
Pump and controller: Check electrical connections for corrosion or looseness. Inspect cables for damage. Verify controller display and indicators function correctly. Test dry-run protection and float switches. Measure flow rate and compare to baseline.
Pipeline and Storage
Inspect pipelines for leaks, cracks, or blockages. Check valve operation. Clean filters and screens. Verify tank integrity and clean sediment buildup. Test pressure tank pre-charge. Lubricate pump bearings if specified.
